Duo Odéon: American Romance
Duo Odéon presents a concert of works by celebrated American composers. The concert focuses around two groundbreakers in American classical music: Amy Beach and William Grant Still. Beach found success as the first female composer of large-scale art music in the US, and Still is known as the "Dean of African American Classical Composers" for a litany of firsts and composed over 150 works that found success both in his lifetime and today. Aaron Copland's elegiac Violin Sonata and two works from the duo's upcoming debut album, Spectre, round out the program.
